FAKE WHATSAPP GROUP IMPERSONATES ACCESS HOLDINGS CHAIRMAN IN INVESTMENT SCAM

Scammers are impersonating Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, to lure unsuspecting Nigerians into fraudulent investment schemes via WhatsApp. The fraudsters created a group named “Value Focus Club 60” using the phone number +234 915 708 8290 and a stolen profile picture of the respected businessman. Victims are being promised high-yield investment opportunities and insider deals that do not exist.

The scam came to light when a whistleblower noticed the suspicious group and raised the alarm. According to warnings circulating on social media and professional networks, the real Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede is not involved in any WhatsApp-based investment club. Access Holdings Plc has confirmed that the company does not offer investment advice or solicit funds through informal messaging platforms like WhatsApp. Any claims suggesting otherwise are entirely fabricated.

The group’s operators have gone to great lengths to appear legitimate, using the Chairman’s image and crafting conversations that mimic insider financial discussions. Potential victims are encouraged to share personal and banking details or transfer money for supposed “exclusive” opportunities with guaranteed high returns. Authorities and the company are now working to shut down the fake group and trace the perpetrators.

Experts warn that this type of impersonation scam is becoming increasingly common in Nigeria, exploiting public trust in prominent business figures. Cybersecurity specialists advise the public to verify all investment offers directly through official company channels and never to engage with unsolicited financial proposals received via WhatsApp or social media.

The public is urged to avoid joining the “Value Focus Club 60” group, block and report the number +234 915 708 8290, and refrain from sharing any personal information. Awareness remains the most effective weapon against such scams, as the company continues its efforts to protect its reputation and safeguard potential victims.
